Here, within the enchanted walls of The Artist’s Mystery Academy, we embrace the mysteries of creativity, transforming challenges into triumphs and turning inspiration into art.

We believe that creativity is one of the most profound and magical forces in the world. It’s what turns challenges into opportunities, and what fuels every adventure, discovery and work of art.

That’s why Joy came up with the idea to create an online (and offline) creative sanctuary. With her own experience of attending a liberal arts college and graduating from the Academy of the Arts Utrecht in the theatre department, now 8 years of working in the creative industry, she missed the inspiration and freedom of the academy.

About Joy
My name is Joy, and I am an artist, storyteller, and course creator. Creativity has been my compass for as long as I can remember—guiding me through landscapes of theater, photography, animation, music, and writing.
But my artistic journey hasn’t always been easy. Where I could just follow the creative impulse and flow in photography and theatre, I discovered my inner compulsive perfectionist when I wrote my first book.
In this process I’ve learned to face my own creative blocks: battling perfectionism and struggling with imposter syndrome. Suddenly I started to doubt worth as an artist, overwhelmed by the noise of comparison and the pressure to create something “perfect.” I fell into feelings of depression and despair. The one thing I’d always known and trusted of myself was my creativity. But now nothing I wrote, made or even attempted felt good enough.
So, I know what it’s like to feel stuck, disconnected from your creative flow. I know what it’s like to find yourself in the shadows assisting others, not daring to stand in the spotlight.
And I know how transformative it is to find your way back to the magic. That’s why I’ve spent years researching how to heal creative blocks, combining my artistic experience with tools and insights that nurture the creative spirit.
The books is now finished and on it’s way for publication.
And with the lessons and tools I’ve learned along the way, i’ve rekindled joy in my creative process.

Why I Created The Artist’s Mystery Academy
The academy was born out of a longing for a place that combines the magic of creativity with the transformative power of storytelling. It’s a dream that has been quietly growing for years, rooted in my own journey as an artist and art educator.
As a child, I dreamed of attending a magical school like Hogwarts—a place where the extraordinary was ordinary and where creativity was cherished above all. But my dream has always gone beyond potions and spells; I longed for poetry in wildflower fields, painting under open skies, and crafting stories with kindred spirits.
After years of working as a theater director and arts educator, I realized that I could build this dream for others. Not just a school, but a community where creators feel inspired, supported, and understood.
"There’s a kind of magic in art that’s been carefully crafted, in stories that are woven with meaning and emotion. I want to honor that magic, to take the time to wrap my creations in layers of thought and feeling, before offering them to the world like a gift. From now on, I’ll create with intuition, but share with intention. Honoring the art of storytelling and the power of taking one’s time. We owe it to ourselves—and to the stories we tell."
